The statistics on blindness are staggering. But people do not go blind by the million, they go blind one by one, and for each person the impact is enormous. Poverty and blindness are a formidable combination, depriving many people in the developing world of basic human rights. Loss of sight often results in social exclusion, making blind people vulnerable to abuse, poverty and early death. Less than half of all children who lose their sight will survive to adulthood. The figures appear overwhelming, yet providing help is simple.

I believe that the "Seeing is Believing" campaign is noble one. What else could be more precious than the gift of sight? When I heard that just USD 30 could restore the sight of a person, it makes you think how so little money can make such a big difference. Imagine: Restoring the gift of sight to a person not only allows the individual to overcome his physical limitations but will have positive repercussions throughout his family & community.

To put it simply - 30 bucks restores the sight of a person, he then is able to seek work to earn more money. With the extra money, his children can go to school, get an education and possibly escape poverty in future. And, his children's children will continue to benefit from your contribution.

You will never know just how far your contribution will go - except that it will definitely go a very long way.

So, in order to do my small part, I would like to offer free guided nature walks and bike & hike guided excursions to my sponsors and donors!

Help save the sight of others and in tandem with the theme "Seeing is Believing", I will bring you on a tour to open your eyes to a new green natural world! Experience Nature with your gift of sight and help others experience the world of sight with your contribution. Everyone benefits from the spirit of "Seeing is Believing"!

I am a Singapore Tourism Board Licensed Specialist Nature Guide and am also a volunteer with the National Parks Board, Singapore. I enjoy bringing people around to enjoy what's left of our natural heritage in Singapore and to share the secrets of the forest.

As I hold a day job as well, I will only be able to conduct my excursions on weekend mornings.

For donations USD 60 and above, I will bring a group of max. 10 persons on a fully guided nature walk (approx 1.5hrs) at one of our Nature Reserves. These walks are easy and relaxing and suitable for all ages.

Or, I can conduct a Bike & Hike excursion for max. 6 (approx. 2.5hrs) to a very interesting area in the northern part of Singapore! (BYOB, bring-your-own-bike!)

Any other amounts, big or small, in support of this cause will also be greatly appreciated! You can donate $1, $2, $5, $10 or any other amount!

For larger donation amounts, contact me at scubawun@hotmail.com and you may just get a personalized guided excursion!

This is not a one-off affair!

Free guided walks and excursions for donors until the target are reached!

Sacrificing some sleep on a weekend morning pales in comparison to what individuals who do not have the gift of sight have to endure.

Make the difference and remember, every cent counts.

Thank you all in advance!
