Meet Hozaifa

HozaifaWith a lovely expression, four year old Hozaifa snatches the pink pencil from his mother, Farhat, and starts to rub it on the colouring book. She kisses his forehead, and thanks God, as a few months back, he was unable to identify the colours clearly.

When he was about a year old Farhat realised that her son was unable to recognise objects clearly, “He moved in the direction from where the voice came. He collided with the wall a number of times. I was always worried about him. He did not take interest in games. All the time, somebody was needed to care for him.”

She thought maybe it was simply his age, but when the situation did not improve she took Hozaifa to LRBT, a hospital supported by the Seeing is Believing programme. An examination of his eyes revealed congenital cataract. Two months later Hozaifa underwent cataract surgery to restore the sight in both eyes. “We were unable to meet the cost of surgery from the private sector”, said Farhat’s father, “I do not have the words to say thank you to those supporting LRBT”. Hozaifa is now able to move around independently. He has become a bold and impulsive child who takes an interest in games, and loves to play with his family.

Farhat is filled with joy when she sees her son coloring the book, “I do not have the words to express my happiness and share the joys which I received after his treatment”.
